Why We Built It
Printed Cedar Rapids directories ended, but Linn County's underlying evidence remains in separate systems. Property ownership runs through the appropriate assessor and the Linn County Recorder. Election Services handles local voter records under Iowa law. Cedar Rapids Public Library, the Cedar Rapids History Archive, and The History Center preserve older volumes and maps. We bring the verified search routes, office contacts, collection dates, and access limits together for Linn County research.
What Is Included
- Distinct search paths: By Street, City Directories, and the Resident Lookup
- Named custodians: both assessors, the Recorder, Election Services, the Clerk of Court, vital records, and local archives
- Practical methods: steps for parcel, deed, directory, court, and historical research
- Iowa access rules: what is open, what is confidential, and how chapter 22 requests work
What We Do Not Do
This is a privately operated reference site. It is not connected with Linn County, the State of Iowa, Cedar Rapids, any court, library, or records custodian. Those boundaries mean:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Linn County
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
